Mount Washington as seen from the summit of Mount Jackson on April 6. Though temperatures have begun to rise, there is still deep snow at elevations above 2,500 feet, Fish and Game has warned hikers. (ED PARSONS PHOTO)

SARGENT’S PURCHASE — Two hikers were located safely following an unplanned night out near Mt. Isolation in Pinkham Notch, and in Woodstock, a Dartmouth student who went missing for three days near Mount Moosilauke was found on the Gorge Brook Trail at about 9:30 a.m. on Monday, minus any footwear.

Deep snow played a role in both incidents, and the N.H. Department of Fish and Game issued a warning to hikers of 6-foot drifts above 2,500 feet in the mountains.
