MADISON — Quick action by eight local fire departments saved two homes in Eidelweiss from a forest fire that destroyed a storage shed Sunday afternoon, according to fire officials.

“It’s bone dry everywhere,” Madison Fire Chief Michael Brooks said by phone on Tuesday. “It could have been a lot worse.”
