CONWAY — The governor’s recent guidance has the cosmetology industry in a tangle over the state’s schedule for the reopening of hair salons and barbershops in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the Governor’s Economic Reopening Task Force’s guidance, “Stay at Home 2.0,” which was released last Friday, barbers, hair salons and other cosmetology businesses may open May 11 as long as their services are limited to haircuts and root touch-ups.

In addition, clients and workers must wear masks, blow dryers aren’t allowed, reception areas must be closed, and all appointments must be scheduled ahead of time.
