Karen Umberger (R-Conway) takes part in an interview at SUN-TV about her state representative candidacy. (SCREEN SHOT)

CONWAY — Republican Karen Umberger is a candidate for one of three open state representative seats in Conway. This recent interview with Sun Publisher Mark Guerringue has been edited for clarity and brevity. The full interview can be seen at conwaydailysun.com or on Valley Vision. Two other Republicans, Bob Nelson and Gregory Corrigan, also are running. Both declined interviews. They will face Democrats David Paige (incumbent), Ellin Leonard and Ben Colbath in the general election Nov. 3.

Guerringue: Karen, you’ve served six terms as a state representative, been a selectman and served on the Conway Charter Commission. You haven’t been a representative for four years. Why are you running now?
