Selectman Ryan Shepard on Tuesday said the Leavitt's Country Bakery court case didn't affect the 2025 tax rate. That statement was partly refuted by the town manager. (DAYMOND STEER PHOTO)

CONWAY — The town's portion of the tax rate is down 20 percent, but a Conway selectman and the town manager have differing views on whether the $175,000 the town spent on legal fees fighting a losing court battle with Leavitt's Country Bakery affected it.

The overall tax rate will be going up almost 2 percent because the school's portion is up 13 percent, which is more than offsetting the reduction from the town.
