CONWAY — The heat was on last week when Conway Parks and Recreation kicked off its eight-week summer camp with temperatures hitting 99 degrees last Tuesday.

“Water was our friend the first three days,” said Todd Gallagher, assistant recreation director, said. “As a rule, we never go to the (Swift) River on the first day, but by 10 a.m. (on Monday, June 23), we said, ‘Let’s get to the river.’”
