OSSIPEE — Plans for turning the defunct Conway Branch rail line between Ossipee and Albany into a recreation trail will be developed by October 2026, according to a committee working on finding the best uses for the rail line.
In April, the N.H. Department of Transportation officially transferred ownership and management of the state-owned Conway Branch Railroad Corridor to the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, marking a significant step in the development of the state’s rail trail network. The line is about 20 miles long, starting in Ossipee and the northern end terminating near the Albany and Conway town line.

Rail with a trail along side is the best option.
