CONWAY — Conway police report they have located a 20-year-old homeless man who was wanted for questions in connection to vehicles that had been stolen from area communities.
According to a press release issued Monday by police, Nathan Cox had open warrants for his arrest and as wanted for questioning by the Conway Police Department regarding several vehicles that were taken from residences Conway, Tamworth and Fryeburg areas in the area over the past two weeks.
Though homeless, Cox was frequenting the area where it is believed that he was responsible for the theft of a number of unsecured motor vehicles where the keys have been left inside the vehicle, police said.
Police announced Tuesday that Cox was taken into custody that afternoon without incident at the North Conway Irving Gas Station after an officer spotted Cox, Lt. Chris Mattei said.
Cox is being charged with two felony counts: theft of a motor vehicle and theft of a firearm.
Cox is scheduled to go before the Carroll County Superior Court in Ossipee today (Wednesday).
"We would also like to remind people to keep their vehicles locked even when parked at their residence," Conway Police Lt. Chris Mattei said.
