CONCORD — A bill aimed at protecting animals from abuse got both praise and complaints on Tuesday during a three-hour hearing at the State House that will continue next Tuesday to allow those unable to speak to weigh in.

The assigned meeting room on the first floor quickly filled, leaving some two dozen would-be participants waiting outside for a chance to speak on Senate Bill 569, introduced by Sen. Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro) in the wake of a high-profile animal cruelty case in his hometown.
