CONWAY — “This is really kind of a sad day, because with Herbert's death, a part of ski history has passed on, too.”

That was the sentiment of Stefan Jochum, vice president of the Ski Club Arlberg, of St. Anton, Austria, standing near the gravesite of Cranmore skimeister Herbert Schneider following services Friday afternoon at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church and cemetery.
