daisy

Called the “Daisy” ad, it ran in the 1964 presidential campaign between President Lyndon Johnson and Sen. Barry Goldwater (R-Ariz.). After the girl picking daisies, the ad showed an atomic bomb mushroom cloud, with LBJ’s voice saying, “Vote Nov. 3, the stakes are too high for you to stay home.” The ad was seen as a turning point in the election, which Goldwater resoundingly lost.
