Day 30 of social distancing/COVID-19 mitigation has passed and many of us are struggling to make sense of our new way of living, faced with loss of jobs, lack of human contact, unpaid rent and utilities, declining bank accounts and apprehension about our well-being and that of our families in our households and in other states. Having our schools closed for so long is a great hardship to families, not to mention the loss of learning.
I cannot imagine a safer, more secure location to be waiting out the pandemic than Tamworth. The glue that is holding many of us together is The Tamworth Exchange, a Google message board enabling instant communication with hundreds of residents. I mentioned on the exchange that I was not able to make a mask, and a kind woman made two reusable ones for me and dropped them off in my mail box the next day.
