The ice is out everywhere, snow has melted with the weather warmer, and the DPW has come and swept the roads in the neighborhood. This effectively kills all my available excuses to get outside and grapple with the freshly visible yard that has been patiently awaiting some deserved attention.
Lying in wait, of course, is a new flock of black flies that apparently feel as though swatting, blowing and cursing at them is a means of assistance in my raking efforts. We all knew it was coming, so, out I’ll go anyway. Hannah has taken to driving the lawn mower as a natural, and provides her help to me on the condition that she alone operates it. Although she doesn’t agree on my assertion that she can’t take it for a spin around town, she is happy to provide her help nonetheless.
