The 153rd annual Madison Church Donation will be held at Madison Elementary School starting at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Supper includes your choice of: corn chowder ($4), chili ($4) or oyster stew ($5) with ice cream for dessert, followed by the cake auction beginning at 6:30 p.m. New this year, there will be a special children’s silent auction. There will also be large cut cake plates for $5 (eight pieces) and small cut cake plates for $3 (four pieces). For more information, contact the Madison Church Office at (603) 367-4705.

The Rev. Mary Edes will be preaching the annual Thanksgiving service at the South Eaton Meeting House on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 18, at 3 p.m. When this little church was built, Madison and Eaton were all one town. So many of the local families probably had members who attended this little meeting house. Join with Ray Stineford, another long time Madison resident, who will play the reed pump organ. Local, (very local) cider and other refreshments will follow. You’re welcomed back as you travel over the East Madison Road, through the hamlet of Purity Spring and up Horseleg Hill Road to the little Freewill Baptist Meeting House at the corner of Towle Hill and Burnham Roads. Go to southeatonmeetinghouse.com for more information.
