The Citizen’s Town Hall on Education will be held on Thursday, Oct. 19, at 6:30 p.m. at the Whitney Community Center at 10 Black Mountain Road in Jackson. New Hampshire schools have made great progress in recent years. New Hampshire is a national leader in student achievement, in personalizing learning for every student, reducing reliance on standardized testing, and providing a supportive environment for teachers. Yet, our schools face real challenges. Dan Vallone of Reaching Higher New Hampshire will host a citizens’ town hall on education for the Mount Washington Valley. Come find out about: What major education bills were proposed in 2017; Which bills passed and became law; and which ones failed; What bills are likely to be proposed in 2018. The intent is for the audience to walk away with a solid grasp of the most impactful policy discussions at the state and federal levels. This is an open, nonpartisan event. Bring your concerns and questions.
The Whitney Center will be presenting "Finding One's Self on the Camino de Santiago" on Saturday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. From May 17 to June 22, 2015, Theresa Fersch hiked the entire length of the Camino de Santiago from St. Jean Pied-de-Port, France to Santiago de Compostella, Spain. The Camino is a 500-mile pilgrimage traveled by pilgrims for over 1,000 years. It is said to bring great physical, mental and spiritual growth to all who travel its routes and provide continuous examples of kindness, generosity, friendship, and love. The Camino gives people the opportunity to experience life as it is meant to be.
