Do you believe the big storm and all the floods? I was one of the lucky ones because I got power back on Monday night. However, great friends in South Eaton and up on Foss Mountain didn’t get theirs back until Friday. The swollen river at the scenic vista on the way to North Conway was unbelievable. My heart goes out to all of you who didn’t get power back on right away, who got flooded out, and who couldn’t even get off your roads. Thank goodness for generators. It’s time we got one.
The next music event at The Inn at Crystal Lake is this Sunday, Nov. 12, at 4 p.m. It is titled “Food, Glorious Food!” and will be an afternoon of culinary-related songs and arias, including the one-act opera “Bon Appetit” (a musical setting of a Julia Child episode). The afternoon will feature mezzo-soprano Vanessa Schukis, pianist Scott Nicholas and innkeeper/baritone Tim Ostendorf. This is a fundraiser for Mountain Top Music, and the cost is only $25 but does not include dinner. Tickets need to be purchased directly through Mountain Top Music’s website at mountaintopmusic.org. Drinks and appetizers will be available for purchase before the performance, and separate dinner reservations are available for after the performance. Call the inn at (603) 447-2120 for post-performance dinner reservations.
