The Bartlett Public Library will be hosting a special presentation “Birds of the White Mountains” in conjunction with the One Book One Valley program on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. David Govatski, an avid birder and current president of Ammonoosuc Chapter of NH Audubon, will be presenting the entertaining and educational program, which will provide an understanding of what birds live or visit our mountain region.
Representative birds will be described in pictures and song. White Mountain specialties such as the American pipit, Bicknell’s thrush, spruce grouse and black-backed woodpecker will be covered. Why some species irrupt in large numbers during the winter in search of food will be discussed as well as an irruptive bird forecast for this winter. How to attract birds using native plants and feeding stations in the winter will also be discussed.
