Sally Kingman Beal of Jackson died on Friday, March 11, 2005. She was 73.Sally was born in Boston, Mass., in 1931 but spent most of her childhood and teenage years in Concord. She attended Concord Academy and Brown University, where she obtained a bachelor of fine arts degree. As a gifted artist throughout her life, she specialized in metal plate etching and watercolor painting.Sally was also an accomplished alpine skier and competed amongst the best downhill racers in the world. It was through skiing that she met her future husband, William (Mack) Beal. They were married in 1958 and raised four boys in Jackson amongst the White Mountains, a place she came to love.Sally had a great love of the outdoors and a unique intuition for the needs of all animals, both great and small. This intuition created bonds not often witnessed between people and animals. Any creature fortunate enough to wander into her life was lucky indeed. Sally also had a terrific sense of humor and a fondness for wild Maine blueberry jam and Almond Joy candy bars.She is survived by her husband, Mack of Jackson; her four sons, Chris of Portsmouth, Brad of Sand Point, Idaho, Jay of Portsmouth, and Andrew of Cape Neddick, Maine, along with her six grandchildren. Sally's brother, Bill Kingman of Acton, Mass., and sister Debbie Ormsby also survive her.She is missed very much by all.Services will be held at the Jackson Community Church in Jackson on Friday, March 18, at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at the Thompson House Eatery.
