ALBANY — Tin Mountain Conservation Center will be presenting “The Bears of Katmai” with David Govatski on Thursday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m. at its Nature Learning Center on Bald Hill Road in Albany.

The program will focus on the brown bears of Katmai and why it is one of the best places in the world to see brown bears. Other wildlife, plants and the spectacular geology of the Valley of the 10,000 Smokes will also be covered, including a description of how you can take a 23-mile gravel road in a special vehicle with great views seemingly around every corner. At the end of this gravel road you have the opportunity to take a 3-mile round trip guided hike into the valley to see the ash deposits and even Jurassic-era fossils along the Lethe River.
