Roland G. Smith Sr. (Lobo), 86, of Tamworth, N.H., passed away peacefully at home on Tues. Feb. 4, 2020, with family by his side.

Roland G. Smith Sr.

Born July 29, 1933, to Arthur and Harriet (Lewis) Smith he was the third of six children.

Roland held several jobs over the years from logging to cooking. Spending many years at The Lobster Trap Restaurant, Jonathan's Seafood and his last job was working for the late Henry Shaw until his retirement.

Roland met and married his love, June E. Hickey in June 1958. They moved to Pasadena, Calif., but returned home just before their first child was born. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping in his younger years. He and June also traveled many miles to watch Dale, Andy and then DJ Shaw race. He always had stories of the places they stayed and the people they met. He also enjoyed watching his Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins.

He will be remembered for his humor, wit and infectious smile and, yes, for his impatience and pigheadedness, too.

Roland is survived by his children, Roland Smith Jr. (June) of East Conway, N.H.; Alan Smith (Deanna) of Harrison, Maine; Susan Foster (Robin) of Brownfield, Maine; and Charlotte Boucher (Mike) of Center Conway, N.H.; brother Robert Smith (Nancy) of North Conway, N.H.; and sister Barbara Mcallister of Conway, N.H.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Ted, Arthur and Onslow (Frank) and his beloved wife June in 2018.

Graveside services will be held at a later date.

Would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Memorial Hospital, the Visiting Nurse Home Care and Hospice and to his special friend and neighbor Lisa Byron. Without them he would not have been able to remain at home.
