Dr. Robert “Bob” McLean, 85, of Nokomis, Fla., passed away peacefully on Sept. 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on Aug. 15, 1940, in New Haven, Conn., he raised his family and spent his career in Brockport, N.Y., where he served as a professor and later Dean of Letters and Sciences at SUNY Brockport. He retired to Tamworth, N.H., and Nokomis, where he lived at the time of his passing.

A devoted professor and mentor, Bob inspired generations of students with his scholarship, warmth and curiosity. In retirement, he contributed to the Tamworth History Center and pursued his passions for birch bark crafts — as a member of the League of NH Craftsmen — and for birdwatching, sharing his enthusiasm with friends and family alike.
