Obituary: Al Shafner

Al Shafner passed away on May 25, 2025, surrounded by his four children at the age of 78. His passing was sudden and unexpected, but he was happily doing what he loved most, performing, when the time came.

Al was born in Lynn, Mass., one of four brothers. He began his career as a machinist at GE, eventually rising through the ranks to end a 40-year career as a facilities manager. Al was the proud father of Buddy the dog. He also had four children. He leaves behind his daughter Leanne and her partner Ray, son Jamie and his wife Lauren, his son Joe and his wife Beth, his daughter Abby, and his grandkids Sadie and Max. He was predeceased by his wife, Betsy. His children all wish him good luck with that reunion.
