To benefit Tamworth Food Pantry

Looking for some hope, some change and dancing? Residents are invited to have some local fun on inaugural night as the nation celebrates the swearing in of Pres. Barack Obama by attending an inaugural ball not in D.C., but in Tamworth Jan. 20.No word if the president-elect is expected to attend the Tamworth event, but lots of locals are.A group of Tamworth residents thought the inauguration would make for a great excuse to have a party while raising money for a good cause the Tamworth Food Pantry. We're getting together at the Brass Heart Inn Jan. 20 for a mock black tie inaugural event and dance, said Susan Kjellberg.Thee doors will open at 7 p.m., with the program to feature an inaugural poem, a presentation by a children's choir, and more at 7:30 p.m.Dancing will follow, with musical entertainment provided by Slippery Trout, the new incarnation of Lisa T and The Rougettes, playing next. There will be a cash bar, and finger foods and appetizers. Children are warmly welcomed. We will have a T.V. set up inorder to provide us with a live feed to the "other" balls in D.C., said Kjellberg. The cost is a flexible $10 per person/family/couple, with all proceeds going to the Tamworth Food Pantry. If that is a hardship, folks are truly welcomed with whatever they can kick in. Non-perishable food items for the food pantry are welcomed as well, said Kjellberg, adding, It's a tongue-In-cheek black-tie, so break out old wedding dresses, prom gowns, papa's tux, tropical shirts, what have you.
