Frank Hubbell, DO, is recipient of the 2004 David J. Connor, MD Memorial EMS Appreciation Award, presented at the North Country Conference.NH Department of Safety, Division of Fire Standards and Training and Emergency Medical Services presented its top statewide honors during a ceremony at an awards banquet held at the Grand Summit Hotel in Bartlett.Hubbell was honored for his dedication to EMS and for contributions that have shaped the operation of New Hampshire's EMS and trauma system today. This award was established in 2000 in memory of New Hampshire's long-standing former statewide medical director David J. Connor of Nashua. A 30-year veteran of New Hampshire EMS, Hubbell was recognized for leadership in EMS education, for wilderness emergency medicine protocol development and for long-standing service to the statewide EMS community.Dr. Hubbell has taken his experience and education to the highways, back roads and streets of New Hampshire to ensure that EMTs are well trained and patients receive the best possible care, said Sue Prentiss, chief of NHs Bureau of EMS. Our system is a better one today due to the efforts and expertise of Dr. Connor and Dr. Hubbell.Hubbell, a physician at Saco River Medical Groups Conway Walk-In Care clinic, also serves as a member of the Region 5 EMS Council, the states Medical Control Board, and is a New Hampshire EMT instructor at Stonehearth Open Learning Opportunities (SOLO) in Conway.The NH Bureau of EMS has managed the statewide awards program for nine years and presented honors in five categories, including excellence as an EMS Unit and Educator and for Heroism, Achievement, and EMS & Trauma System Development.
