The Lovell UCC Summer Music Series continues Thursday, August 24, with jazz pianist Ellen Rowe performing. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. at the Brick Church for the Performing Arts on Christian Hill Road in Lovell Village.Ellen Rowe is a distinguished and delightful jazz musician. A composer, arranger and jazz pianist on the faculty of the University of Michigan, Ellen will offer a program of jazz piano including many of her own compositions. Appearing with Ellen will be Jim Pisano, a talented saxophone and clarinet player whom Ellen met while teaching at a jazz camp in Sitka, Alaska. Jim teaches at Bethel College in Hays, Kansas. There might even be an additional surprise performer, a local gifted and talented young musician! Ellen has received rave reviews for her two jazz piano CDs, and has appeared on Marion McPartlands piano jazz show on National Public Radio. She has toured throughout Europe, Australia and the United States, appearing in jazz clubs and concert halls. Ellen and her family have been long-time summer residents of Lovell.This concert is a benefit for the Lovell United Church of Christ. Admission is free; however, donations will be gratefully accepted.
