EFFINGHAM Frederick Boyd Van Cor, 88, of Green Mountain Road, Effingham, died Tuesday Dec. 4, 2007 at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro.Born in Melrose, Mass. on Aug. 17, 1919, son of the late Frederick Wallace and Emma Sophia (Worten) Van Cor, he has lived in Effingham since 1983 after moving there from South Branch, N.J.Mr. Van Cor graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in chemical engineering and worked for American Cyanamid as a chemical engineer for 42 years.After retiring, he did some worldwide traveling, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, for Huggins Hospital and for the Green Mountain Conservation Group. He was a member of the Audubon Society, the Sierra Club and the Wilderness Society. He was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed sailing, hiking and the great outdoors. He was a passionate reader of historical non-fiction.Pre-deceased by his wife Lois Elizabeth (Heinrichs) Van Cor, he was a devoted father and grandfather to a son, Frederick Boyd Van Cor II of Elberta, Ala. and three daughters, Jennifer Louise Van Cor of Effingham, Marjorie Ruth Perrier of North Yarmouth, Maine, Joanne Elizabeth Campo of Edmond, Okla., and six grandchildren.A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 7, 2007 at the Baker-Gagne Funeral Home, Route 16, West Ossipee.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels c/o Ossipee Concerned Citizens, Dore Street, Center Ossipee, NH 03814 or Green Mountain Conservation Group, 11 Elm St., Freedom, NH 03836.For more information and directions go to www.baker-gagnefuneralhomes.com.
