EFFINGHAM — Elizabeth “Betty” (Spaulding) Nunan, 84, of Effingham, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 8, 2010 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 24, 1925 in Georgetown, Mass., the daughter of Mary S. Stetson Spaulding and Everett A. Spaulding. She was raised in Georgetown and was one of 11 graduates of Perley High School, Class of 1942. She married the late Harold F. Nunan upon his retirement from the Navy in 1944. They settled in Georgetown where she worked at the Georgetown Savings Bank for 24 years, working her way to the position of assistant treasurer. At the time she was active in the Women Banker’s Association of America.
