Foss Mountain Farm holiday farm tour Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 26 and 27, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Visit with the alpacas and do some Christmas shopping in our "Alpaca Boutique." Small business Saturday is a great time to shop. Alana and Dick sell alpaca products made in the United States and Peru. All of our yarn is from our own alpacas. We have warm toasty socks in different weights; lots of mittens, gloves, fingerless mitts; beautiful scarves; a variety of hats for all sizes; fluffy, very soft alpaca stuffed animals; some hand-made crocheted items using our own yarn; yarn skeins in natural and dyed colors; and roving in limited quantities. From Route 153, head toward Brownfield and watch for the signs to their farm on Foss Mountain.
The UNH Cooperative Extension is offering a 4-H blacksmith program for youth 11 to 18 years old. Blacksmithing is the art and science of forming steel while it is still hot. Participants will learn the history of blacksmithing, how to use a forge, anvil and various other tools. Projects might include hooks, Mason jar handles and other small projects that you can think up. Space is limited so registration is required.
