Headlights have come a long way. Maybe too far. Modern light-emitting diodes, or LEDs, and their blue spectrum light can be so bright some can dangerously blind oncoming drivers.

Early sealed beam headlights weren’t very illuminating, and their yellow light was less glaring. In fact, beginning in 1937, France required yellow headlights, and visitors from other countries would place yellow filters on their headlights to comply with the law.
