The 1970s were a unique era in terms of style and taste. Shag carpets were in, disco music was popular and “miracle inventions” were popping up.

One often told urban legend was of a super efficient carburetor invented by a NASA engineer — this was back when space travel was almost routine — that the big automakers or oil companies bought and buried to keep drivers buying expensive gas, and a similar one that had cars running on water.
