When I was growing up, station wagons weren’t cool, and sedans had too many doors. Our parents and salesmen drove those stodgy rides, but my generation wanted sporty power.

Later, the minivan displaced the station wagon as the family hauler, and the next generation of kids wanted nothing to do with those symbols of maturity.
