I recently wrote about the least expensive cars becoming the fastest growing new car auto sales segment. On the other end of the spectrum are expensive cars. While most of us probably consider the price of a new, loaded Chevy Silverado or Ford F-150 at around $100,000 pretty expensive, let’s take it to the next level; let’s say, Ferrari, whose models range from almost $347,000k for an entry level model up to over $3.1 million.
Buyers of these supercars cars are apparently shopping for a new ride, too. According to Motor1.com, Ferrari sales were up by 8 percent in America, and 11.8 percent worldwide netting the carmaker record sales and profits of 13,752 and $6.9 billion, respectively. Surprisingly, to me anyway, 51 percent of those Ferraris were hybrids. Granted, a total of 14,000 cars sold in 2024 is not groundbreaking when compared to the more common vehicles sold in the same time frame like Jaguar (13,210 sold), Jeep Grand Wagoneer (11,959 sold), Nissan Leaf (14,128 sold), and the Porsche 911 (14,128 Sold), but when considering you could buy 10 new Nissan Leafs for the price of a new Ferrari Purosangue — Italian for “pure blood” or “thoroughbred” and one of their more popular sellers — and still have nearly $11,000 left over, it’s pretty remarkable.
