Hauling a car or a project can be done in several ways, from dedicated auto transport companies to loading up a trailer and hitting the road. Retrieving a project, non-running vehicle, or just an unregistered ride adds a little challenge to the mix.

There were times joining an auto club and using the benefit of a free tow was a viable option. This was always a bit of a gray area, but with an understanding tow truck driver it would work out. I don’t recommend it these days for a variety of reasons worthy of a ranting column of its own. It’s far less stressful to pony up the cash for a rollback and level with a road service driver.
