BRETTON WOODS — The Omni Mount Washington Resort broke ground Sept. 11 on an expansion of the Presidential Wing.

The expansion will feature 69 new luxury rooms and suites, offering guests the chance to relax in opulent, top-of-the-line bathrooms as well as to enjoy panoramic views of Mount Washington from private balconies.

The addition will include a central concierge lounge featuring morning coffee service and a state-of-the-art business center. The project is scheduled for completion in 2021.

"As grand as the history behind it, the Omni Mount Washington Resort has been a delighting hideaway for over 100 years and we are excited to further refine the beloved property’s ambiance and amenities," said Josh DeBottis, general manager.

This upcoming addition to the property is expected to preserve the resort's famous historic aesthetics while incorporating modern amenities.

It represents the third building addition since 1902, including the Sun Dining Room in 1906 and the Presidential Wing Spa & Conference Center in 2008.

Additional resort enhancements underway include New Hampshire’s first eight-passenger gondola, which travels at 1,200-feet per minute, set to debut for the 2019-20 ski season at Bretton Woods Ski Resort, along with a 16,000 square-foot on-mountain dining-and-event venue, anticipated to open next summer.

According to DeBottis, the space is positioned to be one of the premier wedding and event venues in New Hampshire with unsurpassed views of the Presidential Mountain Range, according to resort officials.

Omni Mount Washington Resort is an all-season resort destination in New Hampshire located at the base of Mount Washington and surrounded by the White Mountain National Forest.

In September 2009, Omni Hotels began management of the property, which is home to the Omni Mount Washington Hotel, site of the International Monetary Conference of 1944, and Bretton Woods, New Hampshire's largest ski area. Recent renovations unveiled a restored 18-hole Mount Washington Golf Course, 25,000-square-foot The Spa, 20,000-square-foot Conference Center, outdoor pool complex and renovated guestrooms, lobby and public spaces.

The Bretton Woods Canopy Tour was also added to the resort's list of amenities, which includes top-rated Alpine and Nordic skiing, 27 holes of championship golf and a full slate of additional seasonal activities. A variety of lodging, dining and activities is offered year-round, along with many traditional and cultural events.
