Federal grant money available for recreational projects

CONCORD — New Hampshire Division of Parks and Recreation recently announced Grant Round 31 of the Land and Water Conservation Fund. The LWCF State and Local Assistance Program of the National Park Service is intended to preserve and enhance opportunities for public outdoor recreation. Various levels of local government including cities, towns, counties and school districts are eligible to apply for assistance and sponsor projects. Funds may be used for the development of facilities and/or acquisition of land for public outdoor recreation use. The program requires that sponsors commit to a minimum 50 percent share of total project costs, and maintain funded sites as public outdoor recreation areas in perpetuity. New Hampshire Division of Parks and Recreation administers the program. Potential applicants must submit an “intent to apply” form with the division by 4 p.m. on May 22. Forms, which provide program administrators with basic project information, are available on nhstateparks.org under “Community Recreation.” The content of the submitted forms along with project site inspections will be evaluated for eligibility.
