Once again, Arctic air has settled over our region, bringing a blanket of fluffy snow last Saturday night, happiness for skiers and snowmobilers! We were also treated to beautiful sunsets with pink cotton candy clouds in turquoise skies. The long-awaited Chocorua Library Renaissance Revelry took place last Saturday at Runnells Hall. Despite severe cold and a snow storm, all the festively decorated tables were occupied. The evening began with a wine and cheese reception, and silent auction. The Cleveland Hill Consort entertained, followed by more refreshments and the live auction. George Cleveland, MC and auctioneer, kept everyone in good spirits, with his usual humor. The evening concluded with the Mountain Top Community chamber ensemble. I was struck by the outpouring of generosity that made this event possible. Many local restaurants donated a wonderful selection of appetizers and desserts. They included The Brass Heart Inn, G111 Deli, Chequers, The Whittier House, Riverbend Inn, Lazy Dog Inn, Songbird, The Tamworth Inn, Jakes Seafood, The Corner House, Rosies Restaurant and Highland House. In addition, approximately 58 businesses and individuals donated items, including goods and services for the auctions. Thanks to everyone, including all the musicians who participated in any way to make this event such a success.Another culinary event this week was the Shrove Tuesday pancake supper at St Andrews Church. As always, the pancakes and sausages were delicious, thanks to the hard-working kitchen crew. The Reverend Heidi added a Mardi Gras touch with a colorful outfit and plenty of beads. Thank you everyone who made this event possible. The March 1 edition of the Tamworth Civic News has arrived, full of timely articles and information pertaining to the imminent political season.
