Store to Feature New Ready-to-Go Meal Pod; New Service Departments and All Check-Out Lanes Open from 4pm-7pm Monday To Friday

Customers of the Shaws Supermarket in North Conway will find a newly remodeled 57,302 square foot store located at 1150 Eastman Road in North Conway when they visit the store Friday, Feb. 15. The store now has more to offer in many categories which will provide customers with a large selection of fresh produce, as well as natural and organic products in dairy, grocery, produce and frozen foods. With its new format, the North Conway Shaws aims to offer customers a new shopping experience by offering new products that are healthy, easy to find and easy to prepare. One of the latest changes North Conway customers will find is the new Meal Pod, designed to help busy people on their way home from work by having all the items needed to make a meal in one location, along with the recipe. There will be a new recipe and ingredients every two weeks. Other new features include a gourmet olive bar, separate cheese shop and expanded wine section.A ribbon-cutting to grand re-openning the store (although it has not closed for remodeling) is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Feb. 15, with town officials from Conway and Shaws executives in attendance. "From the product selection to the new design and layout, we strive to tailor our stores to the community and we are very proud that the North Conway Shaws supermarket achieves that goal, said Larry Wahlstrom, president of Shaws. This remodel brings greater selection and variety to our customers. We look forward to continuing to bring the best of Shaws to the residents of North Conway and the surrounding towns for many years to come.As part of the ceremony, a $2,000 donation will be made to the Conway Recreation Department. In addition, the North Conway store will be conducting its first Heart of the Valley Food Drive during the store opening weekend celebration. Vaughn Community Services, Freedom Food Pantry, Conway Village Congregational Church, Madison Church Food Pantry, Gibson Center for seniors and the Community Food Pantry Co-op will all be recipients of food collected from customers during the food drive. Shaw's has a long rich history supporting causes that affect our communities, both monetarily and through volunteer efforts, and this is no exception, Wahlstrom said.Also, in an ongoing effort to help serve customers more efficiently and effectively, the North Conway store is participating in a new pilot program, which will have all check-out lanes open from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.As part of the remodeling, the store owners have tried to design a warm, inviting atmosphere that puts an emphasis on food, highlights perishable departments and new specialty shops, including: Wild Harvest, where shoppers will find a variety of natural and organic products, including herbal supplements, breakfast bars, dairy and frozen products. Shop The World Food Hall, which features international food ranging from English, Irish, Thai, Asian, Latin American, Middle Eastern and Mexican. A full service butcher-block shop offering a selection of premium beef and chicken which can be cut-to-order, with an assortment of prepared and marinated items. Osco Pharmacy, which allows customers the convenience of a picking up prescriptions while shopping for their groceries. New self-scan checkout lanes, which provide customers with the ease and speed of checking out themselves while also having an attendant available.The new store format is part of a total store experience that is key to keeping customers happy. It combines fresh, quality perishables and a variety of products tailored to the local community that are merchandized in an appealing and convenient way, along with dcor and fixtures that showcase the items. The expanded bakery department, offering high-end desserts and the addition of the new associate dress code, also serves to drive home the message of a new Shaws concept. The store will be led by store firector Steve Brydon, who has been with Shaws for 29 years, along with assistant store directors Mark Libby, who has been with Shaws for 19 year,s and Ami DeRienzo, who has been with Shaws for 15 years. The store will have approximately 130 associates. The North Conway Shaws will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday thorugh Saturday, and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays. Osco Pharmacy will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
