Ocean State Job Lot is holding a grand opening at its new store on Route 16, Ossipee, on Thursday, April 14.There will be a ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. with the town officials, and a radio remote broadcast with Michelle O'Dell, of Magic 104.5 FM, from noon to 3 p.m. O'Dell will be greeting customers and handing out prizes.Some lucky customers will also be given a free lunch, compliments of Magic 104.5, starting at noon. And customers can enter a drawing for a $200 Ocean State Job Lot shopping spree.Ocean State Job Lot offers a wide range of merchandise that is constantly changing. Some of the merchandise comes from bankruptcies or closings of other stores. Some is brand-name merchandise that has been replaced with newer packaging or different sizes."Our style of purchasing is opportunistic," said Marc Perlman, co-founder and president of Ocean State Job Lot. "We sacrifice continuity for value, so you won't always find the same things in the store. If you like a store that's very orderly, we're probably not the best place. But if you're an adventure shopper and like looking around and hunting for great values, I think you'll enjoy this store."Ocean State Job Lot was started in 1978 in Rhode Island, and the Ossipee store is the company's 75th. Store manager is Jane Boyle. The store is located in the former Ames space at the corner of routes 16 and 28.
