Vacation week is over and so is another snowstorm. I can't believe the amount of snow we have got in the last couple of weeks!I received a lengthy letter from the selectmen concerning the enhanced 911 street numbering, the following is what they sent me:The Town of Bartlett will be unveiling the new Enhanced 911 street numbering for the properties within the town. This has been a long and tedious process due to the obvious need for complete accuracy, but we are at the point where residents can see what their new proposed street and number will be.While the actual enactment will not happen for a few months, on Voting Day, March 8, voters and residents can visit the selectmen's office at town hall when they come to vote and obtain information regarding their new property address. There will also be other meetings scheduled at various times for this purpose. However, it is very important to note that residents should not use this new address until they receive official notification in the mail of the actual enactment date. This street number will not become effective until the board of selectmen determine a date of enactment. Under NH RSA 231:133-a, they must notify each property owner by first class mail as well as Verizon, State E911 Bureau of Emergency Communications, and the U.S. Post Office of this date as well as hold an official public hearing. Emergency personnel must also be trained. If you use this street number before that tiem, you will only add to the confusion because these agencies will not acknowledge this street number until the date of enactment. As you can imagine, this notification process will take time as each letter has to be done individually with its own unique address. However, we will be doing this as soon as Town Meeting is over in hopes of enactment within the next few months. Again, it is very important to note that residents should not use this new address until they receive official notification in the mail of the actual enactment date. Your cooperation in this matter is appreciated.I also heard form Scott Mallett concerning the Bartlett Historical Society. Their next meeting is on Wednesday, March 16, at 6:30 p.m. at the Glen Fire Station. There will be a slide program by Ben English on a "Century of Railroading in Crawford Notch."
