More and more, birdwatchers are observing sandhill cranes in New Hampshire, often while they are usually out looking for migrating waterfowl. The sandhill crane is a tall gray bird of open grasslands, meadows, and wetlands. It can congregate in huge numbers during migration. A year ago looking for ducks in the Saco River floodplain are of East Conway, local observers saw one in fields around the Sherman and Weston farmlands.
