CONWAY — Enjoy the sounds of a century of big band jazz (and a few surprises) at the Majestic Theatre on Sunday, Aug. 30, at 4 p.m., when Bridgton Jazz, an 18-piece ensemble, will play music from the early 1930s to today, in a concert to benefit the Mountain Top Music Center.

Big band, with its characteristic expansive sound, was popular beginning in the 1930s and developed into a solid genre in the 1940s and ’50s. Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller and Artie Shaw ushered in that era.
