With the immediately recent and long-term successes enjoyed by Kennett High and Fryeburg Academy field hockey teams and programs, it is not at all surprising that at least eight former local stick women made an impact on collegiate playing fields this fall.
Two senior captains, Amanda Nusbaum at Springfield College and Leah Kelemen at Western New England University, brought leadership talents from Eagle days to their college teams. Also providing leadership from the coaching sidelines of the University of New England was Assistant Coach Molly Saunders, KHS '09, where senior midfielder and KHS '15, Brooke Lemerise, was a standout on the field. Ex-Raider Bridget Tweedie made an impact as a collegiate sophomore for Bates College. Sophomore goalie Alison Shannon saw plenty of shots for the Wells College — certainly more than during her time in the KHS goal cage. Younger collegians, first-year Natalie Perry at PSU via KHS, and ex-Raider Alexis Charles with the St. Joseph's Monks were adapting to the collegiate level for very competitive teams with deep rosters.
