Welcome to the 2006 Kennett High School football season," that's the message from new coach Andrew Inzer, who is looking forward to this fall. "As the new head coach I am honored to be part of the Eagle tradition and look forward to a great year," he stated in a press release. "On behalf of Kennett football I would like to thank the Mount Washington Valley for the outpouring of support and remembrances of the late Coach Gary Millen. His legacy left on Kennett High School and this community is truly an inspiration to all who are currently involved in this program. His love of this school and his players has certainly shaped the character and the dedication of this football team. This year looks to be exciting as our team is returning most of last year's starters. We are looking to make an impact on the league immediately and hope to pick up where we left off last year against Kingswood. Follow closely as we open against our new division opponent Portsmouth!"A special thanks to Art Walker and the football booster club for your continued support of Kennett football; your tireless dedication helps us be successful on and off the field," he continued. "The Kennett football team would like to thank you for you support and looks forward to a great year!"Coach Inzer is a 2001 graduate of Brown University who was a member of the 2001 Super Bowl champion New England Patriots. He is a former guard/center for the Patriots and the Jacksonville Jaguars. For Inzer this is his first high school head coaching job. Last year he served as offensive coordinator/offensive line coach for a high school in North Smithfield, Rhode Island.Coach Inzer sent a letter home to Kennett football families updating them this month on plans for preseason. He and assistant coaches Chris Bailey and Brian Day will be handing out equipment on August 7-8. Even if an athlete has his equipment he still needs to get his locker and provide coaches with all of the necessary paperwork. "Our overnight football camp will be held at the Forest Acres Camp in Fryeburg from August 21-24," Coach Inzer wrote. "Your player will get a detailed camp practice schedule for these dates as the parent informational meeting on Thursday, August 3 at 7 p.m. (in room CI or or outside the high school). We will be leaving at 8 a.m. on August 21 and coming back around 5 p.m. on August 24 so please make arrangements for your player's transportation; again, a detailed camp schedule will be given to your player once he gets his equipment in August."The cost of the camp is $170 per player ($100 for the camp fee and $70 for catering).Coach Inzer said all athletes must have a physical if they have not had one in the past and must do so before practice starts on August 9. "Finally," he wrote, "I would like to stress the importance of becoming an active part of the Football Boosters Club in order to help our program be successful. The Football Boosters have provided invaluable support to this program and needs the help and cooperation of all the parents/guardians involved in our program. The success at fund-raising has given your player an opportunity to participate in the summer conditioning program, allows us to go away to camp in Maine, and supports the basic and extended needs of the program throughout the entire season and off-season. We will continue the fund-raising efforts this season to help continue the legacy of Kennett football and look forward to your help."
