CONWAY — Pembroke Academy scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning to break a 3-3 deadlock and then tacked on three more in the seventh to edge Kennett High 8-4 in the opening round of the Division II playoff at Coach Bob Burns Field last Thursday in front of a large, enthusiastic crowd in 91-degree weather.

The No. 8 seeded Eagles and No. 9 Spartans met once during the regular baseball season in Conway on May 15 with the hometown flock prevailing 9-6.
