The Lady Raiders played well in tournament hoop losses to Thornton Academy by 10 and to Traip by one to start the week, but lacked their normal intensity in a Class B loss to regular season rival Lakes Region on Saturday. The 49-39 final looks more respectable due to a 19-5 fourth quarter.Unfortunately, the damage was done in a first half in which the Raiders turned the ball over 14 times while digging themselves a 30-12 halftime deficit. Coach Billie L'Heureux felt her team was "just out of synch, and missing the normal schoolday routine." Linsey McFarlin and Meredith Wheeler, with 12 points apiece, led the Raiders while Carley Rudd chipped in with 7. Natalie Prox, 4, Kathleen Graves, 2, and Carissa Allain, 2, rounded out the Raiders scoring. At Old Orchard Beach last week in holiday tournament play on Monday and Tuesday, the Raiders were able to use all players and put in some new things for the new year. They will look to get back to winning on Thursday at Wells and Saturday at home versus York.
