The White Mountain

We live in a time when new books on the White Mountains are steadily being published. This is a sign not only of the need for more information by a dramatically increasing number of visitors to the mountains, but of the maturation of a generation of mountain authors.

That is a good thing. Dan Szczesny of Manchester is one of those. In his 2013 book “The Adventures of Buffalo and Tough Cookie,” he describes hiking with a 9-year-old neighbor named Janell. They climb the peaks called “52 with a View” in one year. It is entertaining and turned many people on to that attractive list.
