On a gorgeous Wednesday this week, I decided to climb Mount Kearsarge North (3,269 feet) above the Mount Washington Valley. Perhaps it was because I had climbed another great valley hike — South Moat Mountain — the week before.

It’s nice not to have to drive too far. Plus, I wanted to see how I did on the 3.1-mile trail that is steadily uphill most of the way. It turned out to be a great day on a perfectly down trail up a peak that has an expansive view on top in all directions, and an historical fire tower to relax in while there.
