The height of mountains is a relative thing. I meant to hike on Mount Washington this week, but a minor cold kept me at a lower altitude. The important thing, as mindfulness teacher Jon Kabat Zinn stated in his first book title, is “Wherever You Go, There You Are.”

I was there when I climbed Foss Mountain (1,657 feet) in Eaton this week on a beautiful afternoon. I hadn’t been to Foss Mountain in quite a while. Its unique low tree line makes for one of the best summit views in the area and an all-round pleasant experience.
