The Leopold Bench was created by Aldo Leopold, a professor at the University of Wisconsin. (ED PARSONS PHOTO)

What do the 140-acre White Lake State Park in Tamworth and the 6,405-acre Pondicherry National Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson and Whitefield have in common? Some interesting things.

On the 2.6-mile loop trail around White Lake are located three Leopold Benches. Located on the many trails in the Pondicherry Wildlife Refuge, home of Cherry Pond and Little Cherry Pond, are three Leopold Benches.
