Recently, my magic phone has been sending out alerts warning me that it is going to be hot. I didn’t really need a phone to tell me this. As Bob Dylan famously pointed out, “You don’t need a weather man to tell you which way the wind blows.” And along those same lines, you probably don’t need me to tell you that hot weather makes for poor fishing.

Perhaps “poor fishing” is more a state of mind. When it is hot, like it has been for the last few days, the hard part is just getting inspired to go fishing. The secret is to pick your time. Fishing during the midday sun is just plain foolish.
